We are a contracted service representative for Manitowoc Ice, a factory-trained installer for Thermokool Walk-in Boxes, and serve as a warranty representative for most major commercial refrigeration and ice machine manufacturers.

1984

Andrew Sewell completed his education at OSU IT in the Spring of 1984, and he immediately began working for a local heating and air company in Tulsa.

1991

Driven by his own entrepreneurial spirit and having a young family, Andrew decided to start his own business, Sewell Mechanical, Inc. His wife and co-owner Ronica continued to work full-time at a local bank, while keeping the books for the company in the evenings. All operations and record keeping were done out of their home.

1993

Hired first full-time technician.

1994

Ronica quits her full-time job at the bank in order to devote all of her professional time working for the company.

1995

Purchased shared office space in Tulsa.

2001

Celebrating 10 years of business, SMI now had a staff of 4 full-time technicians.

2011

SMI marked its 20th year in business by purchasing land and building a new stand-alone office and warehouse.

2012

Hired first full-time office staff in order to manage continued growth of the business.

2016

25 years later, SMI employs 7 full-time technicians and 1 office staff personnel. Owners, Andrew and Ronica, have apprenticed 11 technicians. 3 past apprentices have worked full-time for the company after graduating from OSU IT.
